The reception featured remarks from Thornhill Legal's founding and managing partner, Yuhua Yang, who has over 20 years of experience in cross-border practice. Yang shared the inspiration behind the establishment of Thornhill Legal and her vision for the firm. She also expressed gratitude for the trust built over a quarter-century and reiterated the firm's dedication to helping Chinese and international clients bridge borders and empowering success. 

Over 50 guests, including clients, members of the legal community, industry peers and long-term professional partners, attended the event to celebrate the firm's launch. The reception took place at the prestigious The Dixon Hotel, by the iconic Tower Bridge in London. The awe-inspiring building dates from 1906, when it served as the Tower Bridge Magistrates Court.  It underscored Thornhill Legal's approach of working alongside clients and collaborating closely with trusted legal and other professionals to overcome challenges and seize opportunities together.

Three guest speakers also shared their experience of working with Thornhill Legal’s team and well wishes for the new firm. Jenny Smith, a representative from The Law Society of England and Wales, congratulated Thornhill Legal on the launch and thanked the team for their past contributions and support towards The Law Society’s international initiatives in assisting investment in the UK and promoting the English legal system and professionals in China. 

Industry leader Victoria Younghusband, veteran corporate partner at UK firm Charles Russell Speechlys, shared her heartfelt stories of a 20-year professional and personal connection with Yuhua Yang and wished Thornhill Legal many successes. She said London remains an international hub and Thornhill Legal has an important role to play in developing the connections for London’s capital markets and business community. 
Special consultant for the Central and Eastern Europe region (CEE) Oksana Kneychuk, who is on Thornhill Legal’s Board of Advisers, gave a speech on the firm’s unique model of collaboration and expertise in Ukraine and the CEE region, as well as the opportunities arising from the region.
