Kaiwei graduated from China University of Political Science and Law with an LL.B. degree and a bachelor’s degree in Economics. She later received an LL.M. degree from University College London (UCL).
Before joining Thornhill Legal, Kaiwei worked at two leading Chinese law firms between 2015 and 2024. Her practice areas include Corporate & Commercial, M&A, PE/VC and Capital Markets. She has been focusing on cross-border legal services and serves a diverse range of domestic and international clients across industries including investment funds, oil and gas, energy, mining, environmental protection, finance, fashion and fast-moving consumer goods, manufacturing, internet and e-commerce, entertainment and media, education, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, trade, and technology.

Additionally, she has supported multiple Chinese clients in expanding their businesses overseas, providing essential regulatory and operational guidance to align their global strategies with domestic market realities.
She also has extensive experience assisting international clients in establishing and running their businesses in China. Her services encompass the entire business lifecycle, from entity formation to exit strategies, including regulatory compliance, labour and employment matters, commercial cooperation, restructuring, and asset sales. She has a proven track record of working with prestigious international clients, including Fitch Ratings, Micro Focus, Amundi, Pixomondo, Samarkand Global, Sagent Pharmaceuticals, Kynetec, Lotus, SABIC, and others.
Kaiwei is fluent in both Chinese and English, enabling her to provide bilingual legal advice and documentation.
